A space to discuss meditation techniques, deep experiences, and day-to-day practice insights.
It’s hard to overstate the value of meditation to me but I go back to one experience I had that really stands out and may serve as an example of its power. I’d been meditating for a few years, mostly outside after taking a walk. I found myself in a public park not far from my home and sat on a bench to meditate. It was just simple breathing but suddenly my senses became alive and I could feel the sun and the breeze, the metal bench, the smell of fresh cut grass and the sounds-a train horn, a church bell, a car zooming by, a plane overhead, kids laughing and playing soccer, people talking. I had this sudden rush of insight and asked myself: is it possible to know everything everywhere all at once? Not specifically but in a universal way of knowing what we as humans can know about ourselves and the universe using millions of years of existence built up in our DNA and passed down to us by prior generations? I felt at one with the universe for just a moment but it was profound and uplifting. Thanks
