Meditation focused on healing in the body

I’m looking for a meditation to help me get through a medical issue and upcoming surgery . Either body part focused or just dealing with general anxiety and fear over health and wellness

One thing I’ve heard from both practitioners and people dealing with chronic pain is that body-focused meditations aren’t always the most supportive choice if, and I’m not saying you have this, but if there’s fear or fixation around a specific area. For some people, it can increase monitoring and tension.

I’d recommend the Combat Training module from the app as most helpful right now. The practices around releasing thoughts and mental resistance can create a little more space around the anxiety and pain without needing to focus directly on the body the whole time.

I’d also recommend keeping the practices short and gentle. Often the nervous system responds better to consistency rather than intensity during stressful periods like this.

Wishing you well with the surgery and everything leading up to it. :growing_heart:

I had a minor surgery a few years ago, and what helped most during the actual process was counting my breaths, both the night before when I was feeling anxious and again while waiting to go back. Just counting ten breaths, then starting over if I lost track. It gave my mind something simple and steady to return to instead of running through every possible scenario.

Wishing you a smooth procedure and an easy recovery.

I agree with both previous posters about those things being possibly helpful. I would add that I sometimes find that really sitting with the uncomfortable feelings and meditating on them from a distance and then writing about them helps becauase then you see they’re just feelings that you can detatch from and view from a distance instead of tangling with them and wishing they would leave.
